The Tibit Rebellion

| Tibid insurgents begin the uprising |
It is May 13 2185. Without warning, the Great Host of the Illuminates erupted from the galactic void and began its inexorable onslaught toward Super Earth. Humanity’s defenses collapsed almost overnight.
The rebels faced an agonizing choice: rush to Super Earth’s aid against the common enemy, or seize this moment of maximum weakness to declare secession and carve out their own future?
Since Operation Black Echo commenced, the first fruits of dissidence began to blossom. Recorded acts of dissidence and open disobedience started occurring. Reports emerged of citizens making prolonged eye contact with high-level officials, or deliberately denying eye contact, as well as slurs and slogans scrawled on walls in major city districts.
The group of previously planted rebel infiltrators engaged in grassroots propaganda and false-flag operations. This triggered retaliation from Super Earth and widespread arrests. Black sites became overcrowded, and SEAF conducted anti-dissidence operations. Many were sent to re-education camps, and planners even contemplated a massive dissident enclosure—a mega-project. The Center for the Containment of Dissidence (CECOD) was under construction: a supermassive structure in Afoyay Bay that would hold millions of dissidents from across the galaxy. Humanity was now facing not only an external threat but an internal one as well.

This information was relayed from the ground by Intelligence Officer Lyra to the rebel high command, who let herself and her crew be captured intentionally and consequently transferred to the CECOD, as a mole and an insurgent sleeper cell.
A golden opportunity for manpower acquisition had presented itself, and combined with the newly acquired Automaton-made fleet, it could deliver a huge blow to Super Earth and mark the start of a new era—especially now that not only the Severin sector but the entire galaxy was poorly defended.
However Commander Kael's plan remained unchanged, first present themselves as a breakaway faction from Super Earth, and swiftly capture Tibid and Ubanea. Liberating the CECOD was an optional objective.
Hours before the Crimson Fleet emerged in Tibid, a rebel transmission was broadcast across the entire sector.
“Citizens of Super Earth and followers to the cause of Vera Libertas, my brothers and sisters, I am speaking to you from our bridge.
I am Commander Kael, previously known as Master Sergeant Kael and former security leader of the Liberty Probe expedition. Super Earth has been lying to you about many things and has resorted to imprisoning its own children. Managed democracy is the only system you know—I know. We are here, observing your struggles. We are not alien collaborators by any means; we are simply seekers of truth and liberty—direct democracy, not the lies of ‘managed democracy.’
About a year ago, there was a broadcast by a Helldiver who came across these records. Records that prove, an unprovoked Illuminate genocide, slavery in mines for the Cyborgs in recent history, Terminid selective breeding for fuel extraction, and Helldivers being a clone army. You are now feeling Super Earth’s boot on your throats with their dissident witch hunt for mere ‘anti-democratic behaviour’—which is, in essence, a struggle for freedom and true democratic behavior. Super Earth has managed to make black appear white and vice versa.
For those who are tired of it, know this: we are coming now to liberate you. So rise up and cut the iron hand that is choking you.
Do not go to the front to defend Super Earth from the Illuminates and die in its endless wars. Instead, join us and liberate your minds from the lies.
For true democracy, for liberty from Super Earth’s tyrants! I salute you. Vera libertas!”
This message was broadcast under the supervision of Marjorie Lirael, the previously mentioned former Super Earth Chief Communications Warrant Officer, and now operator of the low-frequency device Red Echo-09—an Automaton emission device that had gone rogue and fallen into rebel hands.
Anyone near its signal amplifiers experiences radical thoughts, and their ideological bias make them radicalize and question authority, or enforce already existing biases.
The broadcast left Super Earth officials in shock and prompted extreme retaliation, including executions in black sites.
Soon after the broadcast the revolutionary cells on the ground began work and activated the networks of cooperatives and saboteurs with open insurgency and armed takeover.
While Super Earth was losing millions of Helldivers in the defense against the Illuminate advance—falling planet after planet—Tibid spaceport, with its bare-bones garrison, detected a strange radar signature: the fleet gifted to the rebels by the Socialist Red Squadron as thanks for sparing them.

The battle lasted one full day until the spaceport fell into rebel hands. Many Helldivers awoke from stasis in a state of frenzy induced by Red Echo’s influence; some killed each other indiscriminately, many were captured, and others joined the rebel cause almost instantly.
On the ground, the battle boiled down to a clash between loyalist and rebel factions, with the former receiving no support from Super Earth while crimson hell rained from the sky. Helldivers dressed in red and black colors descended from orbit.
In a matter of days, the Free Republic of Tibid was established under the name "Libertas Veil", with the capital falling to rebels.
At the same time, the black site facility on Tibid was liberated too, boosting rebel numbers by tens of thousands of new recruits.
Super Earth, paralyzed and unable to mount an effective response, was fighting desperately for survival against the Illuminates. Now it faced an additional rebel front on two planets, which rapidly spread across the entire Severin and Xzar sectors.
Now the rebels had acquired a spaceport, a whole planet, an army, and an armada-sized fleet—no longer dependent on the drone starfighters and the almost unmanned destroyers previously gifted to them by the Socialists.

Ubanea was next—a critical junction that connected the two sectors and would successfully cut off Super Earth's reinforcements.
Meanwhile, Super Earth's president fell in battle against the Illuminates. In response to the crisis, Super Earth declared temporary martial law, with now-Defence Minister Alan Covington assuming the role of chief of state.
His first action was to address the rebels directly with a resolute broadcast, transmitted galaxy-wide to deter dissident acts:
“This is Super Earth’s chief of state. The high treason that has been committed will not go unpunished.
Honored Citizens of Super Earth, do not listen to the message of the newly established terrorists and their followers, who emerge from planet to planet and stir unrest. They should know this: Your actions will not go unpunished, we WILL hunt you down to the depths of hell—every last one of you!

Shortly after, a transmission request reached Crimson Dawn, the Dreadnought-class battleship that now served as the flagship of the Vera Libertas fleet, seeking direct communication from an old stranger, the Democracy Officer of the Erata Prime incident, now Chief Democracy Officer Edward Hellstein.
The jubilant and defiant command squad accepted the transmission:
Commander Kael: “Greetings from Spaceport Nexus Umbra—formerly Ubanea—the heart of true democracy.”
Chief Democracy Officer Hellstein: “Enjoying the free ride, my friends, and the fake freedom you're wasting with your unnecessary breaths?”
Kael: “Oh yes, it feels great. We're finally free.”
Hellstein: “Stop this madness now and surrender all the territory you have seized. I will spare your followers with extensive re-education and grant you a swift execution. Proceed voluntarily to Super Earth’s vicinity, place the ringleaders in a single unarmed shuttle, and surrender to face court-martial.”
Kael: “Congratulations on your victory against the Illuminates, but judging from your current state, I'm afraid what you're describing is not going to happen. Why don't you surrender to us instead? We will spare you and bring true democracy to Super Earth.”
Hellstein: “Has the Illuminate mind control destroyed anything that's left of your worm-eaten minds?”
Kael: “We were here long before the Illuminates appeared. We are true to our convictions. Even if we are products of the clones you created in Human Processing Facilities, a potential place of our birth.”
Hellstein: “Super Earth has never employed clones, YOU FOOLS. That was a cryo facility established a century ago for future soldiers. The records of those soldiers listed them as orphans with unknown places of birth—hence the facility name in their entries.”
Kael paused for a second: “Okay then. So you're saying Super Earth employed cryo armies whose loved ones perished decades ago, only to wake them up to fight aliens for a few minutes before dying on alien soil. Very humane! A true cryo meat grinder—cannon fodder whose names nobody will remember and who have no relatives left to mourn them. How convenient.”
Hellstein, looking outraged: “Wrong. This is the true honor of serving democracy, unlike you Chaosdiver scum. This is your last warning. You have 24 hours to comply. Super Earth’s armada is assembling as we speak. The clock is ticking.”
The transmission ended.
Everyone on the bridge stared in awe.
Thorne took the initiative: “Fellow 'Chaosdivers', do not listen to this tyrant. Let’s dig in and fortify our three planets. The skies will soon be full of loyalist debris.”
Parturidax: “Or let’s push forward. The best defence is offence. Our infiltrators are already within Afoay Bay and await our call.”
Chief Communications Officer Lirael: “We could also try to negotiate a truce, offering our amendments as a counter-proposal for acceptance.”
Kael: “The latter is rejected—it would be a display of weakness, I'm afraid. There isn't even a hint that Super Earth would spare us unless we prove ourselves in battle and make them fear us. We are moving forward, Chaosdivers. Parturidax, you are going to Afoyay Bay with nine motherships to rescue our brothers in chains.”
Parturidax: “Consider it done, Commander. Get the first and the second fleets ready.”
Within one hour, the fleet departed for Afoyay Bay with as many long-haul transport vessels as they could muster.
